Hayfield Pro Loco 2007

Last weekend I was delighted to come away with first prize at the Hayfield Pro Loco. It was a cold day and at one point I had to sit in the car with the heater on to dry paint. But at least it didn't rain and the reward was worth it. I'd planned to do a triptych based around the church grounds but I added a view of the church from the car park while I was getting warm!

Me trying to do something technical......

Paintings on a Derbyshire theme......

Drowned Village II

Drowned Village I

I have recently completed these two paintings based on the Derbyshire villages of Ashopton and
Derwent which were drowned when the valley was flooded to create the Ladybower reservoir. I really enjoyed doing the research for these paintings.....the history of the area is fascinating.

The subject was ideal for my layered style of painting.

Abstract Flower ACEO's

I have be;en experimenting a little with watercolour and mixed media. I used to use watercolour a lot more, but have recently been happier with acrylics and ink. These three abstract flower art cards were great fun to do, and are a change from the bigger works that I have been making lately. They are being sold online, and are finishing today.....here's the link.....

I have been selling art cards (ACEO's) through online auction houses for over a year....and love making art that is accessible to everyone. They measure only 2.5"x3.5" and are highly collectible. Anyone can now be an art collector. Search online for ACEO......there are some amazing artists producing these cards and there are cards out there to suit every taste and every pocket!

Teen Tapestry

I hadn't realized how long it has been since I last blogged! I did manage to get my teenage portraits done in time, though I didn't include the painting in my last post. The final piece consists of 12 portraits and 4 abstracts. Each painting measures 12"x 12." Teen Tapestry was displayed as part of the Independent Artists Exhibition in Nottingham back in January, since then most of the separate portraits have been sold.
You can see the individual paintings on here ....
Please excuse the quality it's my first attempt at a video.......and yes I couldn't work out how to stop the music!
